Based in Netherlands, MotorCorner is a large company that a great deal of experience and know-how in Germany and the Benelux for over 40 years in the field of engines, engine parts and, motorcycle accessories. The company offers a range of products via its online store and enjoys a wide customer base.

The client had their old e-commerce website built in using an old Magento version. They were experiencing multiple problems when they visited us to get a solution. Some of the problems were:

  • Lack of a website that one can access from mobile devices
  • The functionality for importing bulk products was not in a working condition
  • Website speed was incredibly slow because of the huge database
  • Lack of an advanced product search feature based on Make, Model and Year of their vehicle(s)
  • Lack of online VAT integration with orders

The company was also keen to open new operations for Germany and English customers by means of enabling motor-corner.de and motorcorner.nl websites that they can manage from a single environment/area.

After a thorough discussion with the client over chat and call to develop a comprehensive understanding of their requirements, we understood the following points that we should take care:

  • We have to modernize their existing website and implement the current UI/UX trends.
  • We need to ensure their website becomes user-friendly and responsive while maintaining consistent web content.
  • We have to enable the functionality for bulk product import and online VAT integration API.
  • We have to build a search schema to help in fast loading of the Make/Model/Year dropdowns.

Solution Offered to Client:

We compartmentalize the project in a series of phases. In the first phase, we modernize their website and make it sleek as well as responsive while emphasizing maintenance of web content consistency. Then, we installed Magento 1.9.x during the development phase, introduce configurable products and redefine the product attributes.

Net, we built a search schema with product SKU, make, model and year only. Based on this search schema and configurable product scheme, we developed a customized script for product importing. Not only we enable the online VAT integration API, but also implemented a multi-site feature of Magento to enable .de and .com sites along with the .nl site in a way that they can be managed from a single backend.

We finally helped them in the migration of categories/products from their old website to new website.
